Overview & Narrative Setting

When a mysterious, invincible, tentacled alien destroys 70% of the moon, he issues a bizarre ultimatum to Earth's governments: he will destroy the planet in exactly one year unless a specific class of junior high students can assassinate him first. Enter Class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, a group of academic misfits and outcasts relegated to a dilapidated building isolated in the mountains. Their new homeroom teacher is none other than the world-ending creature himself, whom they affectionately dub "Koro-sensei" (the unkillable teacher). Despite his apocalyptic threats, Koro-sensei proves to be an exceptionally dedicated, compassionate, and highly effective educator. He not only teaches standard academic subjects but also trains his students in the art of assassination—helping them discover their hidden talents, build self-confidence, and overcome their personal demons along the way. As the students of Class 3-E attempt increasingly creative and desperate methods to eliminate their surprisingly supportive target for a massive government bounty, they must also navigate the intense academic hierarchy of their elite school and face off against professional assassins.
